As the year comes to a close, our team reflects on the numerous achievements we have made together. In our Year in Review, we highlight the significant events and milestones that occurred over the past 12 months. We are incredibly proud of everything we have accomplished and grateful to be able to reflect on our successes.

We’re not slowing down! 2023 holds more potential for growth, and we couldn’t do it without the support of our community. Thank you for your continued support. Happy Holidays!

Development Updates

Media Smart-Contracts

Over the past year, we have been working on creating Solidity smart contracts for Media Network, a decentralized platform for buying and selling CDN (Content Delivery Network) services on the blockchain.

The smart contracts enable CDN providers to offer their services to clients, who can customize their choices and make payments using MEDIA tokens. Providers earn MEDIA tokens based on the time and price of their offers, and deals can be canceled at any time.

Media App

In addition to developing smart contracts, we have also been adapting the Media App to work with the new Media Network marketplace. This has involved designing and implementing various features and functionalities, such as the ability to browse and select CDN services, customize options, make payments, and manage transactions.

Media Edge

We’ve been working hard developing Media Network’s new offering, Media Edge. This optional software enables providers to create and sell CDN services in the decentralized marketplace.

Media Edge combines Media Edge and Media Guard into a single open-source software that serves as a web server and blockchain resource manager for CDN providers.

Protocol Usage

In 2022, Media Network experienced significant growth, with the default provider (Media Foundation) surpassing 1 billion requests. This impressive achievement reflects the success and interest in Web3 infrastructure protocols and the increasing demand for decentralized alternatives.

With the new CDN marketplace closer to launch, we’re opening up the gates for new providers or individuals trying to monetize their hardware & bandwidth. For everyone.

Decentralized Protocols Take the Stage at CDN Summit 2022

We were honored to participate in the international Content Delivery Summit. We had the privilege of speaking on the panel Beyond The Theory Of Decentralization, Blockchain, & Crypto CDN alongside Red5Pro and Siden. This marked the first time a decentralized protocol was featured at a formal event, and we are grateful for the opportunity.

During the panel, we were asked about the potential success of peer-to-peer networks in the current landscape. We confidently explained that the current incentives and use of blockchain technology enable the development of decentralized technology as a protocol, allowing it to reach new heights and break free from centralized controls.

The time is right for decentralized networks to thrive and make a meaningful impact on the CDN industry.

98 Million Users Gained Access to Media Network

We were pleased to announce that Coinbase, a leading exchange, listed MEDIA in June, demonstrating its support for Media Network, the first protocol of its kind with a fully functional product.

This listing directly exposed more than 98 million users to the protocol.

We are grateful for Coinbase’s confidence in our service, which has been operating since April 2021. This vote of trust is a testament to our technology’s quality and value proposition.

Insights from Industry Insiders

We’ve had the great pleasure of interviewing community leaders such as Bartosz Lipinski, Senior Software Engineer at Solana; Grace Kwan, Co-Founder of Orca; & Mariano Di Pietrantonio, Media Foundation Advisor and & Head of Strategy of Maker Growth.

Thanks to a series of concise and profound questions, we could delve more into their personal preferences, goals in the crypto ecosystem, and long-term visions in this great industry.

Powering Up with Partners

In August 2022, SRG SSR, a Swiss public service broadcaster, announced that it is experimenting with decentralized protocols, including Media Network, to revolutionize the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

These experiments aim to reduce costs and foster innovation within the EBU, which comprises 73 national media organizations from 56 countries. SRG SSR is currently running tests with Media Network to evaluate its potential to achieve these objectives.

This is a significant milestone for our network and the decentralized community. It demonstrates the potential and value of decentralized technology, and we look forward to seeing what the future holds.

We have also formed partnerships with Wosco Art Gallery and Solow.

Our partnership with Wosco Art Gallery, a traditional art gallery in Argentina, aims to create the First Hybrid Art Gallery in Latin America, empowering artists and galleries to express themselves freely without centralized control.

Meanwhile, our partnership with Solow, a Latin American community focused on decentralized technology and Web3 infrastructure, allows us to educate and raise awareness about our Media Network throughout the region.

By collaborating with these projects, we aim to promote the widespread adoption of decentralized technology and empower communities to embrace it.

2023 is shaping up to be a truly outstanding year for Media Network. As we continue to develop our protocol and forge new partnerships, we remain committed to advancing decentralization and enhancing the CDN layer of the internet.

We welcome all projects, protocols, and companies interested in joining forces with us and exploring the benefits of our decentralized services.

We’re excited to bring innovation to every corner of the web and eager to hear from you! You can find our team on our official channels listed below — don’t hesitate to reach out and connect with us.

Let’s make 2023 a year to remember!

About Media Network

Media Network is a blockchain-agnostic, censorship-resistant, and community-powered dCDN enforced by smart contracts. We’ve created a decentralized bandwidth market that enables anyone to hire or provide resources from the network as the demand for last-mile content delivery shifts.
